"And, like my daughter says, isn't that the f****** irony, I'd have to vote for someone willing to pay for disabling children in the Middle East to secure the care and well-being of my disabled love one (here)."

Hey, Sis. I'm telling you, that daughter of yours is an excellent critical thinker! First and foremost, you've got to do what's best for you and yours, Cathy. There are plenty other ways for you to make a difference. And as for that "embedded safety" with white privilege? Just remember "First they came..." White people should NEVER take that safety for granted.

Glad you got to read The Message! Coates reminds me so much of Mr. James Baldwin, in both style and substance and they know it. That's why they tried to reduce him down to an extremist -- to no avail, however. He calmly sat there and ripped their asses to shreds for their gross, uncaring regurgitated bullshit. His last question to that clown, "Why is that okay?" -- still reverberates with me, because like you, Palestine (and now Lebanon) upsets me so. I'm glad that, as upsetting as it all is, you're willing to keep, reading, listening and really hearing. That matters more than you know.๐Ÿ’๐Ÿ’๐Ÿ’๐Ÿ’
