Remembering “A Homegoing” of my own

After reading Adebayo Adeniran’s excellent piece on the Carnegie Mellon professor’s thoughts on the Queen’s passing and William Spivey’s tactful reasoning as to why he’d not be writing about the Queen, I also decided, like William, not to write about her passing — or her living.

Instead, after watching Ben Vereen on The Kelly Clarkson Show on the same day both posts were written, during which he talked about his role as “Chicken George” in Roots:

I chose, to remember the end of the “Elizabethan Age” with these videos I made in December 2010, after my first trip to one of her former, West African colonies — The Gambia :
