“Bill Russell: Legend” on Netflix — a microcosm of the political importance of Blacks in sports

I just watched one of the most moving, inspiring and meaningful sports documentaries I’ve seen in a minute. The one drawback? Seeing the skin-folk, Changeling — trying to be kinfolk. Other than that minor annoyance, my heart was full — and I was so damned proud, particularly, given the recent passing of Harry Belafonte.

As we watched, I told the husband two things, 1) I think basketball was a WHOLE lot better then than it is now — he agreed. And, 2) “I SO see young, Colin Kaepernick in this man!” Again, he agreed.

If you’ve got Netflix Fam, watch this two-parter. And after you do — think about it, talk about it — and most importantly, feel about it.
