Born in SC 66 seasons ago, the child of West Africans deposited there by the Trade, I've nothing but pride in what my people have been able to accomplish in this country. As Ernest said in his comment, I became during James Brown's, "Say it Loud, I'm Black and I'm Proud" era and it meant everything to me!

You've laid out quite succinctly not only how that "slave blood" has benefitted us, but the entire world (though the world will NEVER admit it. But we don't need them to, cuz we know, as James Baldwin said, "from whence we came.").
