I remember telling the sons about my sister taking my brother and I to see Mary Poppins at the American Theater in Charleston -- we had to sit upstairs in the balcony -- what white folk used to call "the peanut gallery" (as in where the monkeys sat) back then -- I was eight years old, and Brown v. Board passed ten years before, in 1954.
They couldn't wrap their heads around that.
