"Freedom fighters" until the U.S.

In Afghanistan in the 1980s the Mujahadeen were labelled freedom fighters in the name of geostrategic expediency, as were groups responsible for atrocities in Syria. Now, today, the equally fanaticalneo-Nazis of the Azov and other such regiments and national guard battalions are being widely depicted as ‘heroes’ and ‘brave defenders’.
Russia once fought and defeated Nazis in Eastern Europe. Today she is fighting them again
