As a member of the "Divine 9," pledging Delta Sigma Theta in 1978 at Talladega College in AL (who would've NEVER strutted for this woman), I DO get why so many of them do. They see her as Sydney or Cicely, but she's NEITHER -- and she says so, as she talks about her Indian heritage over being Black and American.
