She's well into her 90s and still works for those folks a few days a week, cooking, cleaning, doing laundry, etc. She helped raise their daughter who passed away terribly few years ago. And you're so right, those generations of Black women carried all of us, so ain't no shame in my game when I own them and lift them up. According to an interview I read when she said that, she said she didn't feel like the movie told enough of the maids' stories. But if I'm not mistaken, the movie was based on the real Abilene's book (which she sued the movie folk about). Not sure what she meant cuz I don't speak "actor."
