Hi Di! I guess I get why what she did with the flag was so important to you, but I still believe it was merely performative on her part because of how vicious the murders against those Black people were. Wouldn't have been a good look to run it back up the pole after that with the whole world watching.

And yes, though she's Indian, I think her being a Republican is why she's surrounded with so much white. I've found there are many Conservative, Indian politicians who choose to be white-adjacent, like Nikki and Vivek Ramaswamy here in the U.S., or the Conservative Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak in the U.K. who all hold racist beliefs.

I agree with you that the problems with Nikki are her politics, but I don' agree that racism isn't one of them. She being white-adjacent has led to her voting and acting like them against "the Other" on more than one occasion. One case in particular that pissed me off royally was her part in the "Baby Veronica" case involving a Native-American child being taken from her biological Native-American father and given to a white couple in Charleston (well technically James Island) in 2013. It's too long to go into here, but I wrote a series about it on my personal blog back then. Here's a link to the part about what she did:

People always immediately think Blacks when it comes to racism, but know that while DeSantis and tRump are outright racists agains Black and Brown folk, Nikki's an equal opportunity offender.

And yes, we DO agree on Bree Newsome! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
