I agree with you and Ray Gibson 100% !! I've been married to a society-identified white guy for 40 years, whose Italian-American family (except for his oldest sister and her family) were none too happy to see my Black ass show up. But because, since high school (many, many moons ago!), James Baldwin was always, and will forever be, my muse on these folk, I never missed an opportunity to remind them that they, themselves were not white. Baldwin's "On Being White and Other Lies" was definitely something I shared with all of those who thought they were.
