"I always thought of peanuts as being the most American nut despite them technically not being a nut at all but a legume. Their association with baseball games for own thing. But also that when I’ve traveled abroad, it seems peanut butter is a VERY American thing."

America, peanuts are actually a VERY West African thing (yet another cultural appropriation thing ro which America's known) -- my grandmother grew them on her farm on the Sea Island in SC. They call them "ground nuts" in West Africa and given British colonization and slave trading there, I've no doubt it's very prevalent abroad.
