I watched the pilot, Daughter -- and it moved me. I was 12, and Black during the time of this reimaginining. When I saw the trailer, I said to my society-identified white husband (he says he's Italian), WHY??? And then I watched the pilot -- and I got it. It was my growing up, just like it was, replete with " bein' in the house when the street lights came on; my brother playin' Little League baseball; hearin' Black folks' music on the radio; stayin' out of grown folk business and not actin' a fool in front of white folk. Imma keep watchin' to see how real it is.,,
