It was normal for us back in the day. We knew where we could and could not go. I agree more people need to hear about those days, but a lot of folk would rather forget (at their peril, I believe!). I tell the sons shit all the time so they know what has happened to us before and what could still happen now if they're not paying attention.

They ARE sugar-coating the country's ugly past (when have they not?!). And yes, with all this book-banning and legislation being passed, they're again, denying young people the truth. But I've got faith in most of the young ones today, because more of them are not only seeking out the truth for themselves, they're telling it -- loudly. As long as they continue to "each one, teach one," those powers-that-be will not be able to keep up this charade much longer.
