My grandmother had 15 children out on our SC Sea Island -- plenty of milk (Hell, I've got an uncle the same age as me, born three months before I was. My mother was the oldest of the 15. Just the way it was.). She was a "tit-nurse" who fed white children from her breast, not because their Mamas COULDN'T do it, but because they DIDN'T WANT TO DO IT (That whole, "don't wanna mess up my figure thing that white Southern Belles hung onto so their men wouldn't leave them -- even as they laid with the enslaved women on the plantation).
