Not only rural America, Charles.

In many ways, we are seeing the same thing happen in rural America today. Once thriving downtowns rotting to the core. Crumbling roads and bridges. Grinding poverty, family violence, rampant drug addiction, and obesity. All while the politicians who run them scream breathlessly about drag shows.

Not only rural America, Charles. The Black neighborhoods in my SC hometown went through the same things. It was like they were letting it go so gentrification could take over -- which it did. {SMDH}
