One of the reasons my "dap" is ONLY shared with Black folk. I'm an old Black woman, who grew up with James Brown's, "I'm Black and I'm Proud." It was "our" way of showing love and respect to, and for, one another. I REFUSE to share it -- even with my society-identified, white husband.
