Whew!!! That's a seriously heavy circle of brothers with whom your grandfather raised you, Darlin'!!! You must have a plethora of stories to tell -- and I, for one am definitely here for them!

Being introduced to my buddy, Jinmmy by Mrs. Alfreda Jenkins in my 9th grade, public school, English class (my siblings and I had to transfer there when the tuition for the three of us at our segregated Catholic school became too much for my then-divorced mother to handle -- those Black nuns they brought in from Baltimore taught us nothing about ourselves!) -- changed my entire perspective on life as a Black girl-child being raised in South Carolina. Prior to then, I'd not learned anything about him. I was 12 when Dr. King was assassinated; I remember stories my family old about Stokely, SNCC and the Freedom Rides as well as him being married to Miriam Makeba for awhile, and of course we ALL knew how Muhammad Ali chose jail over going to Vietnam!

Please do share as many stories as you can about your "becoming," Aria -- it'd mean a lot to a lot of us!
