Then I came upon this shit and lost my damned mind!:

Staged or not (cuz some folk say it was), Norma Miller and the Lindy Hop lives, and always will, Fam! I met her when I lived in Key West working at the paper — it was one of THE most moving things I’ve ever experienced as a youngish, Black woman!!:

Then I came upon THIS and my mind was not only blown — but it took me back home!:

Though I’ve long ago parted ways with white Jesus, I’ve not forgotten, as James Baldwin said, “From whence I came.” We sang this song, not only in my grandmother’s AME church on the Island, but in my grandfather’s Baptist church on the Island too — but NEVER like this!! Look at us, Family — such a beautiful thing!!
